Search and Rescue


Introduction

  • The course provides Search and Rescue Mission Coordinators (SMC) with the competencies required to carry out SMC function effectively and efficiency in accordance with ICAO Standard and Recommended Practices (SARPs).

Objectives

This course provides participants with an introduction to the world of aviation, land and marine search and rescue, international search and rescue agreements and conventions, and the search and rescue roles and responsibilities of individuals

By the end of this course participants should be able to:

  • Understand the global SAR policy.
  • Demonstrate general awareness of executing communications during a SAR operation.
  • Demonstrate familiarization with all the stages of the different SAR incidents.
  • Plan for both Inland / Maritime SAR operations.
  • Use different assets as SRUs Air / Maritime.
  • Provide emergency assistance in different situations.
  • Conclude and document SAR operations in order to improve and enhance performance.
